CERAMIC SAMPLING & TOOLING

From a design file
to a production standard.

Sampling, mold development and product refinement for porcelain programs with demanding forms, finishes and launch calendars.

WHAT YOUR BUYING TEAM NEEDS TO KNOW

Design inputs.
Clear approval decisions.

01

Technical review

Share dimensioned drawings, intended capacity, artwork and the surfaces or details that are critical to your design.

02

Physical development

Use samples to evaluate the form, handle, lid fit, glaze, decoration and overall product experience together.

03

Approval control

Record the approved version, outstanding changes and test requirements before moving into production.

01 / FROM IDEA TO OBJECT

Keep the design intent.
Resolve the details.

The mug example in the profile follows concept manuscript, 3D views and the finished ceramic object. It illustrates how character proportions, accessories and surfaces need to connect across stages.

For your project, identify the elements that cannot change and those that can be adjusted for production. This makes sample feedback more focused.

02 / TOOLING & REFINEMENT

Good tooling starts
with clear decisions.

A change in shape or component fit can affect the mold and the operations that follow. Agree the product dimensions, assembly details and surface requirements before confirming the tooling scope.

Sampling is also the point to compare color and decoration against references. Screen artwork alone does not define the appearance of a fired ceramic surface.

BUYER’S WORKING CHECKLIST

A brief with fewer unknowns.

DecisionWhat to defineWhy it matters
GeometryDimensioned drawing, capacity and component fitProvides a concrete basis for tooling review.
AppearanceColor references, artwork and finish samplesMakes visual approval repeatable.
Critical detailsRelief, small features, handle and lid requirementsDirects attention to the difficult parts.

ScheduleTarget approval and launch milestonesAllows sampling work to be prioritized.

FROM REVIEW TO RELEASE

A clear route to approval.

01

Submit

Upload drawings and reference images with a short product brief.

02

Evaluate

Discuss feasibility, manufacturing route and the questions that need a sample.

03

Refine

Review physical samples and consolidate dimensional and visual feedback.

04

Freeze

Confirm the approved sample, revision and production requirements.

03 / MONTHLY DEVELOPMENT

A development rhythm
for your brand calendar.

New collections, seasonal launches and extensions of classic lines create an ongoing sample workload. Share the expected number of designs and their complexity so the team can review the calendar.

Agree the sample quantities, approval criteria and revision stages before development begins. Keep a clear record of the approved form, finish and artwork for the move into production.

PROCUREMENT QUESTIONS

The details worth asking.

Can we send CAD files?

Yes. The inquiry form accepts supported drawing formats as well as PDF and image references. For unsupported formats or larger packages, include a controlled sharing link in the brief.

How many sample rounds are included?

This depends on the development scope and requested revisions. Confirm the proposed sample stages, charges and approval responsibilities in the quotation.

Are molds exclusive to our program?

Ownership, exclusivity, maintenance and any storage arrangement should be agreed in the project terms. Do not assume these conditions from the product category alone.

Can development begin from a sketch?

A sketch can start the discussion. The team will identify which dimensions, artwork and use requirements must be resolved before tooling and physical approval.
